The King Is In The Field
In this month, the month leading up to the high holidays and the last month in the Jewish calendar, it says that Hashem is closest to us. He steps away from his palace and meets us in the field. He is closest to us in this month than all other months.
Before making his royal decree and determination of what will be of our entire next year, he gives us one last chance to do soul searching, reflection and "repentance."
He comes to meet us, get close to us, and see what kind of seeds we are planting for the new year. And because He is a great father if we're not on the right track, he will gently nudge us in a difference direction. And if we are on the right track, you'll feel the divine support.
Our souls and minds are more receptive to the communication from above during this time. As well as the reverse - He is more receptive to our prayers and ways we connect with him. Try to listen to the whispers from the universe and pay attention to what he is calling you forward to do and become. The lines of communication are open, answer the call!
So what can we do this month to connect us even more and take advantage. The three T's! Tzedekah, Tefilah and Teshuvah
Tzedekah
"Those who said money doesn’t buy happiness, never gave it away."
And If you've ever given charity, really went beyond yourself to give, you know it's the best feeling in the world, and you are always rewarded. Why? Because we are doing a mitzvah and mitzvahs were created to bring us closer to Hashem, so we feel a little bit of that light. In giving money away, we’re connecting to our Creator, and also telling the Universe, I’m abundant, I don’t worry, I don’t obsess, I don’t withhold, I trust, I have everything I need now, and I will have what i need what I need it. I can emulate Hashem and be all giving, all charitable, all chesed.
In most things in the torah it says not the test Gd, but in giving 10% of your profits to charity, he actually says "test me and I will pour you out a blessing."
Tefilah
"Praying is not to remind Gd of your problems, but to remind your problems of who Gd is.
The purpose of prayer is to not to get, but to connect. It reminds you that if a problem was sent to you, then so was the solution. We are not given a challenge that we cannot overcome. If you feel stuck it’s because your energy is going into the problem and not the solution. There is something in that "problem" that is asking you to transform, change, rise to the occassion, level up. Once you do that, you will earn the blessing you have been asking for.
Tshuvah
We think of it more so as “repentance” but it actually means to return.
We were all made pure holy souls free of any sins or negativity. Actually the way to do repentance is just to “return” to your true self of purity, goodness, kindness, giving, and all that is Gdliness.
Here are the steps:
Feel bad
Take upon yourself to do better
Confess to Gd that we sinned
Take action to do better
The true Jewish meaning of teshuvah, tefillah, tzedakah, then, is a Jew returning to his true holy self — teshuvah; achieving union with G‑d and becoming a partner In co-creation — tefillah; and taking action like Gd with others by being giving and charitable — tzedakah.
